Science and Engineering Concepts
Some of the concepts we have investigated include stress and tension forces, what materials would be best for our project, how to design a viable product, 3-D modeling, and how to insure that our product is up to safety guidelines and environmentally friendly. To build our product we will need to incorporate all of these concepts during the construction process and also include the design process as we may need to go back and change parts of the design to make the product functional.
Course of Action
Our prototype construction stage would involve the research of the best materials to use that we can find or buy at a cheap price to fabricate our final design. During the testing stage we will continuously put weights onto the product to test how well each material functions. For the data gathering stage we will create an excel spreadsheet that documents the data we collected from all the materials (Stress it can hold, weight it can support, how much it weighs, etc).

Software, Technology, Equipment
For the project we may need to use the CAD Inventor Program to design the models for parts of the chair and we can use the program to test the forces exerted on the components when somebody is sitting on the chair. The only equipment we will need to use would be the 3D printer and standard or power tools to drill any necessary holes, smooth out the pieces, or cut the parts. The product would need simple equipment that could be bought from craft stores like Velcro and cloth to cover part of the seat if needed.
